My Delhi Sunderland

Last night the boys slept at their grandparents so that meant only one thing - date night šŸ˜ Anybody with kids who are fussy eaters will know that this is the time that you go out and explore new restaurants and nice food šŸ˜‹ 

My husband wanted to try My Delhi Sunderland as he drives past it on his bus when heā€™s at work and it smells amazing šŸ‘ƒ 

We decided to get the bus there as we get free travel and wanted a little drink šŸŗ There are lots of public transport options with this restaurant being located in the city centre šŸšŒ 

Our bus stopped diagonally opposite the restaurant and as soon as we stepped off the bus the smells just hit us in the face šŸ‘ƒ The place was busy and we hadnā€™t made a reservation (would definitely recommend booking) but they managed to fit us in šŸ“– 

The decor is clean and modern with the feeling like you are in India šŸ‡®šŸ‡³ They play Indian music, even in the toilet šŸš» 

My husband chose a pint of Birra Moretti and I went for the Peacock Indian fruit cider, which was mango and lime flavour. I was a bit apprehensive as Iā€™m normally a Strongbow Darkfruits kind of girl but it was delicious šŸŗ 


As part of the Sunderland Restaurant Week menu you could either choose option A which was 3 street plates or option B which was 1 street plate, roadside curry and dum pulao rice, both of which were Ā£15pp. We chose option B.

My husband had Delhi chicken tikka and Punjabi Dhabi chicken. I had Amritsari fish and butter chicken. We shared chips and garlic naan bread. All of the food is served together in their individual serving dishes (the starters come out a fraction earlier than the mains to allow them to carry everything) and you get a plate each to put everything on.

The food was absolutely amazing. The best Indian food I have ever eaten. The service was very quick and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

I honestly couldnā€™t recommend this place highly enough and I canā€™t wait to come back and pay full price as itā€™s worth every penny. There is an optional 10% service charge added to the bill which is distributed between the restaurant staff. You can have this removed if you wish but I wouldnā€™t have dreamed of it after that service.

If travelling by car then the nearest parking would be Frederick Street, charges apply šŸš˜

Today we went to Inflatanation Newcastle  for the first time. This venue is a big tent located in the car park of the Royal Quays .  It is easy to access via car, just a short distance from the A19, and has a free car park. You can also get here using public transport. Either by Tyne & Wear Metro  to Percy Main and a 14 minute walk or the Stagecoach  number 10 bus towards North Shields and a 4 minute walk. The cost for age 4-15 and adults is Ā£9.99 for a 1 hour bounce and Ā£5.00 for an extra hour. Under 4s cost Ā£5.99 for a 1 hour bounce and Ā£3.00 for an extra hour. Tinoā€™s Italian Restaurant

My favourite meal is a Sunday roast and there are a few factors that make up a good one for me, which are turnip, meaty gravy and homemade Yorkshire puddings. This roast at Tinoā€™s Italian Restaurant  in Jarrow ticked all the boxes for me. I wouldnā€™t even know this restaurant existed if it wasnā€™t on one of my husbandā€™s bus routes, but now Iā€™m glad I do. The Go North East  number 5 bus towards South Shields stops right outside. You can also get the Tyne & Wear Metro  to Fellgate and walk for approximately 9 minutes. Itā€™s located on the end of a little cul-de-sac of shops in Jarrow, just off the A19 exit for Boldon. There is a small car park outside the shops but if thatā€™s full then thereā€™s plenty of residential streets nearby you can park on.  The Sunday roast is either Ā£8.95 for one course or Ā£10.95 for two courses (starter and main). The Old Vestry - Sunday Roast

 My choice for Motherā€™s Day was The Old Vestry , located on Fawcett Street in Sunderland. Iā€™ve had food from the main menu before and even afternoon tea but Iā€™d never tried their Sunday Lunch menuā€¦ until now! I chose the Sunday roast with gammon. The meat, potatoes and Yorkshire pudding came out on the main plate and a bowl of seasonal vegetables came out separate so you can help yourself. I put the whole lot on my plate as I love veg and it was all lovely and fresh. Iā€™m not a big lover of mashed potato but this one was seasoned so well that I ate the lot. It was very tasty. Not a frozen roast potato or Yorkshire pudding in sight, all cooked from scratch.  I love it when you get stuffing on your plate even if itā€™s not with chicken. Lovely meaty gravy with not a lump to be found. The gammon was more of a steak than sliced from a joint but very tasty all the same. 10/10 as far as Sunday roasts go for me!
